You have Application Suggestions or Ideas?

June 23, 2009 @ 9:46 a.m.

If you encounter a situation where you think: "I would need an application for that!" or "Why doesn't my device do this automatically?" or "Couldn't there be an app that does this and that...?!" then you can simply mail me and tell me the suggestion you have.

I will do my best in developing the app you are thinking about because there are surely others out there who would also use the app. Mail me at fh@crackberry.com and let me know your idea!

LaterDude - How and why it got developed

Since some of you may know, I'm quite into Twitter and last Friday I asked what application I should develop. I got many, many replies but all seemed a bit too heavy and time-consuming so I just developed my own idea: a simple call back reminder.

Why? Because so often I get a call but have other things to do so I just tell the guy on the other end that I will call back in 10 minutes. Too bad this often leads me to not remembering to call him/her back. So I thought it would be great to have a Menu Item in the Call Log and when you click it you can select when it should remind you again. So I got straight to the code...!

What do you need to code such app? You need some experience with Java and need to REALLY know RIM's APIs (Application Programming Interface).

What APIs did I use? I used the MenuItem API to plant that Menu into the Call Log app. Then I used the PIM APIs to create a calendar entry and then you need some fields and the Date and Time API. Nothing too complicated.

I will further work on the application and add functions. Make sure to tell me your ideas on how I can improve the application. Send me a tweet through Twitter: @FabianMH

LaterDude - The simple call back reminder

On Twitter I announced that I would develop a simple call back reminder and here it is now!
This application allows you to have full control over who you have to call back when. Check it out in the application list on the left side of this page.

If you have any improvement suggestions, let me know!

Already 10000 downloads of ForceRadioOn

So apparently some of you guys use this application...! Here a link to the app: http://mobileutil.com/applications/4/

The application allows you to switch on the radio of your BlackBerry even when the battery is too low for radio usage. First I thought no one would use this application but now I get so many eMails from people telling me how it saved their life to make that 'last call'. Cool.

What this Blog will be about...

In this blog I will write about some of my applications, what new apps I work on and my thoughts on the BlackBerry OS and it's functions.

If you have any application suggestions then you may simply mail me at fh@crackberry.com!
